Warkworth School - Te Kura o Puhinui
Warkworth School — Te Kura o Puhinui — is a full primary in the Rodney District with an unusual setup: the junior and senior campuses sit on opposite sides of the road, each tailored to the developmental needs of their year levels. It's a school with a strong sense of identity and a genuinely diverse community.
I started working with the school in 2021 under principal Cynthia Holden. The timing coincided with a period of real transformation — a new senior complex had been built, a new colour scheme developed, and the school was redefining itself. The website needed to reflect that energy and handle the complexity of a two-campus school. The design incorporated the school's striking house murals, bold artistic work that ran through the new building and became part of the visual identity of the site.
When Kane Dawson came on board as principal in 2024, I supported the transition with a full website audit — something I do with most schools annually. Every principal brings their own direction, priorities and way of communicating with their community, and it's important that the website reflects that rather than the person who came before. A new photoshoot in 2025 refreshed the visual library, giving the school images they can draw on across all their communications.
Website · Photography · Annual Audit & Review“I want to say, I am absolutely thrilled with the website. I know it has had a ‘long gestation’ and there have been plenty of challenges along the way, but what a fabulous product! I am really pleased and want to thank you for your patience and tolerance with all the stops and starts, challenges and changes. THANK YOU. ”
